Dear Friends,

One spring when I was a young teenager, my older brother and I were watching a movie in the living room.  It was one night a few days before Easter.  It was an old movie, but one which we had not seen.  As the movie came close to the end, we were so riveted to the plot that we stayed up to see it as the plot was one you couldn’t pull yourself away from.  When the movie came to an end we were spellbound, and thought that it had been worth staying up for.  The name of the movie was, “The Robe,” and the ending scene concerned the crucifixion of Christ at which some of the characters in the movie were healed of a terrible disease.

Usually within the couple of weeks prior to Easter, some of the classic biblical movies will appear on television.  “The Ten Commandments,” usually will come on because it dramatizes the origin of Passover.  Jesus and the disciples were observing Passover when they ate the Last Supper.  Many Christians read once again the passages in the New Testament about the suffering of Christ.  Some will also see a good biblical movie that concerns some of the passages of the Bible used during Lent and Easter.

There was a profound purpose in the death of Christ.  Through the suffering of Christ, forgiveness is available, and with this forgiveness comes an inner healing.  A relationship with Christ changes a person – the individual is renewed from the inside out.
