Celebrating 100 Years
Collins Memorial United Methodist Church
Homecoming October 11, 2009
Attendance was approximately 250 including the nursery and the kitchen crew.
The acolytes were Cinthia, Ilse, and Mary Beth.
The Reverends Bill Roane, Emory Brackman, and Floyd Tenney shared with us during the sermon time.
We had a tent set up between the Fellowship Hall and the Scout Hut for eating & the band.
Soooo Good !!!
We ate in the Fellowship Hall, in the Scout Hut, and
under the big tent.
And then the Krystal Kritters sang some 1950's Rock & Roll songs.
About 30 years ago the youth group at Collins was headed up by Bobby Barfield and David Duke.
That youth group (the MYF) started a band, the "Krystal Kritters," to play in a church talent show.
The people at the Fox theatre found out about it, heard an audition, and booked them to play in the Egyptian Ballroom in the campaign to save the Fox.
It has been over 20 years since they've been back together, but they did get back together
for this 100th Homecoming.
