I need God's help with something!

• The Situation.  Sometimes an individual may have a huge prayer need.  This can be a problem that has developed suddenly or over time, and God's help is needed.  Sometimes it involves financial problems due to loss of a job or other unexpected expenses.  Many people face scary medical conditions either with a family member who is ill or with one's own health.  Other prayer needs may involve concern for other people who are making some bad choices and are on paths that could  lead to heartache.   

• Bringing it to God.    "Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."                                                                          - Philippians 4:6-7 (written to a church to reminding them to bring their prayer requests to the Lord.)  

              When a large (or small) prayer need comes along, don't get lost in despair.  The Lord loves you to the extreme and wants to hear from you about your concerns.  It helps to pray often and on a regular basis.  The above verse from the letter to the Philippians in the New Testament, invites us to bring everything to God in prayer. A habit of prayer in difficult times will help us to get through it.  It helps when you know God cares and is with you.

• A prayer. Use your own prayer praying from your heart or, to help you get started, you may use the following prayer.  Use the parts of the prayer that apply to your need.

            Dear Lord, thank you for loving me and for being concerned about what is going on in people's lives.  I have a prayer concern that is on my mind and I wish to place this before you for your help.  I would like to ask you                     (list concern)                             . (for health requests) Lord, please give your healing touch as the great physician.  Bless the doctors and medical staff giving them all the wisdom and insight they need.  Thank you for being with the doctors, looking over their shoulders and helping them.  Thank you for your direct touch.  Empower the recovery process that healing may continue.  (for difficult circumstances)  Lord, I place this situation before you.  It is so complicated that I just don't know what to do.  I ask for your help to solve the matter and that you give me the wisdom and insight to deal with this.  Please give clear vision to me and to others who are also involved in this situation.  (for guidance)  Lord, I am at a crossroads and I'm just not sure how to decide this issue.  Please help me to see the big picture and to seek your will for me in this situation.  Help me to do the right thing.  Help me to see a possible win-win solution that will be in accordance with your will for me and all who are involved.  I place these concerns before you and I thank you for your interest in my life.  In Jesus' name I offer this prayer.  Amen.
